7 of such facilities have since the last 2 days been commissioned in various communities across the metropolis namely, Kparing ,Gbambaya, Tuutingli ,Bilpiela, Jakarayili ,Nalung and Dohini.
At separate ceremonies to commission the facilities ,mayor of Tamale, Hon.Alhaji Abu Takoro admonished residents to take proper care of the facility and cultivate a maintenance culture that guarantees value for money
The projects were executed on BOT model of a PPP terms and conditions.
Hon.Abu Takoro used the occasion to commend the private partner for a job well done and appealed for more to increase coverage and access to improved sanitation infrastructure.
Beneficiary communities were however admonished to take steps to acquire household latrines since government no longer encourage the construction of public toilets except such public places as hospitals, lorry stations, markets and schools.
